@ion010101 or the number 0.0000000000001Lots of "nothing" that definitely means something.

@ion010101 I suppose if that's how you interpret zero. That's a philosophical question. "Nothing" is definitely something. Just ask the number 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.That's definitely not "1 plus nothing". Like I said, very philosophical.

@JesusManson323 In a computer, does a zero not mean, "nothing there"? /not a programmer, or computer person
JesusManson323 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@ion010101 In the Mayan civilization, zero means "completion". Only to European culture did zero mean nothing. That's why the Greeks refused to use it and the Catholic Church prohibited its use for awhile. Meanwhile, India, the Arabs, and the Mayans were cranking away with it.In computer language, everything also starts with zero. So that's why Stallman does, too.

@JesusManson323 I get the feeling he thinks so... but I don't get it. Zero means nothing is there. If you have one thing, that's one, innit? I mean, I don't count a line of people by saying, "zero, one, two..."Thanks for replying.

I think that source code should be available but I can't justify allowing publishing and republishing. This means that if Mablab was open source then I can just buy it, change a comma or a name of a function somewhere and have my own product which I can sell to people. It's a hard question this one however. Imagine you invest years and billions into research for very fast algorithms. By providing the source to the product you also provide the results of all that billions of $ spent on research.

@ion010101 a true numbering system starts with zero
